Why now
Xero's assistant now reconciles and codes bank lines on its own: bank rules, contact defaults, suggested matches and automatic reconciliation straight from the feed. That is a growing number of coding decisions that nobody at your practice made, sitting in a file you sign. The question practices are asking is a fair one: who checks the machine?
Grade my Xero is that check. It is a read-only review of a client's Xero book that now grades what the automation coded, and it opens with the number that matters.
What you get back
The first line of every report is the automation headline, measured on that book and that period: how many bank lines were coded with no human touch, how many of those the review disagrees with, and the pounds and VAT at stake on them. No industry averages and no benchmark from someone else's book. If the number is zero, the report says zero.
Underneath the headline sits the full grade: mis-codings against the client's own chart of accounts, VAT exposure, capital items expensed, personal spend, duplicates and evidence gaps. Every finding names the lines behind it and the reason, so you can check it in Xero in the time it takes to read it, and dismiss it with a written reason if the book is right and AIONA is wrong.
How it works
- Connect read-only. You authorise AIONA in Xero with read-only consent for one client organisation. That consent can be revoked in Xero at any time, and the connection cannot write anything back.
- AIONA reads the period. Bank lines, bills, invoices, contacts and the chart of accounts for the period you choose, and whether each line has a document behind it. About twenty minutes for a typical book; nothing in Xero moves.
- You get the report. The automation headline first, then the graded findings with the lines behind each one. Share it with the client under your practice's name, or use it to decide what to review before the VAT return goes in.
Where your data goes
AIONA reads Xero with read-only consent, writes nothing back, keeps each client's rules to that client, and never uses your data to train anything.
- Read-only consent you control. The connection is granted in Xero as read-only and can be revoked in Xero at any time. AIONA cannot alter, post or delete anything in the client's organisation.
- Every finding cites the lines behind it. Nothing in the report is an opinion without a reference: each finding names the Xero lines it rests on, so you can check the evidence yourself.
- Each client's coding conventions stay inside that client's company. What AIONA learns about how one client's book is coded is used for that client only. It is never shared with another client or another practice, and it is never used to train anything.
Application and database hosting is in London, with a published sub-processor register on the security page, and everything you hold in AIONA exports in full at any time.

Questions
Does AIONA see how JAX matched a line?
Honestly, no. Xero does not expose that to connected apps, so AIONA cannot tell whether a line was matched by JAX, a bank rule or a suggested match. What it can see, per line, is whether the line came through the bank feed, whether it was reconciled, and whether anyone put a document behind it. AIONA infers automation from lines that were reconciled straight from the feed with no document behind them: coding that came from a bank rule, a contact default or a suggested match rather than a decision on the line. It says so on every report, in those words.
Can AIONA change anything in Xero?
No. The consent is read-only, AIONA has no write access to the organisation, and you can revoke the connection in Xero at any time. Findings you disagree with are dismissed inside AIONA with a written reason; Xero is never touched.
Is the headline about all books, or this one?
This one. AIONA publishes no accuracy figure it has not measured, and it does not compare a client's book with anyone else's. The numbers in the headline are counted on the lines in that book for that period, and you can open every one of them.
